Perfect Piping-Hot Outdoor Pizza Grilling Tips
With just a few simple ingredients, a hot grill, and some fresh garden-grown garnish, you can serve up some delicious grilled pizza at your next outdoor party—or enjoy it as an easy DIY meal to kick off the weekend!
You don’t need a fancy outdoor oven to make your very own homemade pizza—your trusty grill will do just fine! Grab some store-bought dough (or make your own if you’re feeling extra adventurous!), olive oil, tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and don’t forget to bring your appetite!

Grilled Pizza
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
- ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 lb. mozzarella cheese, shredded
- Homegrown garden herbs and veggies, to top (e.g.,):
- Basil
- Cherry tomatoes
- Bell peppers
- Red onions
- Cucumbers
- Eggplant
- Mushrooms
Preparation:
- Roll out the pizza dough to your desired shape and thickness. Brush both sides with olive oil.
- Heat grill to high and place dough directly onto grates, cooking for about 2-3 minutes per side until lightly browned. Remove from the grill and let cool.
- If adding veggies, slice and toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Grill until tender and slightly charred.
- Spread a thin layer of tomato sauce over the dough and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella over top.
- Arrange the grilled vegetables on top of the cheese.
- Place the pizza back on the grill, close the lid, and cook over high heat for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the crust is crispy.
- Remove the pizza from the grill and let cool. Garnish with fresh basil or other herbs from your garden.
- Slice and serve your delicious grilled garden veggie pizza!
